Concerned Owen Sound Taxpayers (COST) is committed
to making this municipal election count.
To help achieve this, COST
Director Bill Stobbe has registered as a Third-Party Advertiser, enabling
COST to advertise the strengths of the candidates it believes are best
positioned to change the direction Owen Sound has been heading for many
years.
For too long, our city has been moving
in the wrong direction. Rising costs, higher taxes, stagnant growth and
growing community challenges demand a new approach.
This election is an
opportunity to change course—but only if residents get involved.
We encourage every voter to ask candidates the tough questions. Do they
have the leadership, experience and courage to challenge the status quo? Do
they have practical ideas for controlling costs, encouraging growth and
investment, and addressing the challenges facing our community?
Most
importantly, are they prepared to make the changes needed to put Owen Sound
on a better path?
COST will be asking those questions—and we will
share what candidates tell us so voters can make an informed choice.
The future of Owen Sound depends on the choices we make at the ballot box.
Get informed. Ask questions. Demand change. And VOTE.
We are a non-partisan group of taxpayers focused on three measurable objectives:
1. Lower the cost of government
We want municipal spending to be disciplined, transparent and focused on value for taxpayers.
2. Improve services
We want accountable municipal leadership and high-quality services delivered efficiently.
3. Grow Owen Sound
We want new ideas that can increase population, investment, businesses and the municipal tax base.
Questions for Municipal Candidates
We asked candidates a series of questions about municipal leadership, taxation, spending, accountability, homelessness, economic development, municipal service costs and water rates.
Our purpose is not to tell candidates what to think. It is to identify candidates who recognize the need for meaningful change and are prepared to think differently about Owen Sound's future.
